Colchester Bakery Guestbook
Thank you for visiting our pages at Colchester Bakery Web Site.
We would appreciate any comments you wish to ADD to
this guestbook.
We are visiting nearby, and plan to stop by your bakery. As a baker myself, I really love and appreciate old fashioned and traditional bakeries. I might suggest posting your days and hours of operation on your webpages.

What an outstanding tradition to visit, work at, and eat at. Friendly confines of the bakery are outstanding. The service is great. I hope it remains forever in Colchester. Having been one of the "workers" when in need of financial help, the owners of the bakery truly took care of me. Outstanding.

I was born and raised in Ct and always had your Russian pumpernickle bread.Whenever we get back to CT we always make it a point to get up to your bakery to get your bread. We have friends that come out here for hunting season,he asked what I wanted him to bring and I told him the pumpernickel bread. He will always bring me at least 6 loaves out.I have shared it with my friends at our coffee club and now I am asked when am I getting more.Just love the bread and now our sons moved back there and he really loves the chocolate donuts. Can't buy a real chocolate donut anywhere.

To me - this is the best bakery in the whole world. The bakery started with three people. A Mom with wisdom, good heart & a capability to see good in all, a father with the esteem to be the best baker & a young daughter who wanted the best for everyone. So with years of so much experience this has to be the best, because to me without this bakery it is like never seeing an I Love Lucy Show. It is a part of everyones life in Colchester. Ursula, has kept this Bakery together for most of her life. Her father's success is from his wife Mary & daughter Ursula. The bread is the best & so is the rest.

My mother-in-law got me hooked on you. She lives in Sarasota, FL and has to have your donuts and bread every time she visits. Two years ago we moved only 15 minutes away from you. Now she wants to stay with us the most! My kids love your donuts and cookies. I have a severe weakness for your Mundle bread.

The Colchester Bakery is one of the wonderful assets in our town! It's truly great to have a real, old-fashioned bakery. I love the fact that my kids get to experience something that I too enjoyed as a kid....the big glass cabinets, huge variety of baked goods, the string canisters hanging from the ceiling, and the friendly staff.

Hmmm funny. There I am... studying at the university of maastricht, international business. This week's assignment. 'How can a bakery profit from eCommerce-> make a website'. :-) So while surfing, I ended up here. And I must say, this is exactly what had in mind. It's unfortunately too late to use a couple ideas of this website, since we have to present our eBakery in a few hours. I must say, it looks very nice. I want an online bakery in the Netherlands toooooooooooo! :-((

Although I live in Amston, I am only 3 miles from your bakery. Lucky me!!! I have family who live in Manchester and Enfield and every single time I go to visit I have to bring them Pumpernickel and Rye bread! If I don't show up with "the bread", its a very short visit!
Keep up the tradition...you are very much appreciated.

I was born and raised in CT. I've lived in Sarasota, FL for 22 years now. Never have I found a bakery that makes donuts and onion rolls like the Colchester Bakery! When I went for my class reunion in 1998, this was a must-stop me to introduce my husband to a piece of my youth. My friend Robin (Slopak) Gann of St. Pete, FL had some frozen rolls in her freezer that had been hand-delivered by her brother visiting from CT. She saved one for me when I went to vist. What a neat way to break "bread" with an old friend!

Like walking into the corner bakery back on LI in the 1960s-1970s, the sights and smells brought me home. The taste is just as I remembered the baked goods I used to have as a child. As the white boxes were tied up with baker's string from above, my 14 year old son got a glimpse into something that was part of my childhood experience. I travel 30 minutes and it's worth every minute. Thanks to the kind counter help too. A recommendation for lunch at NuNu's cafe was outstanding. My family had a great Colchester morning and look forward to our next visit. (maybe today!)

The reptuation of this bakery has been spread far and wide. I have relatives and friends who come to town, special to buy something at the Colchester bakery. One of my uncles used to stop there every time he came up from Florida!

Except for family living in Colchester, and some friends, the "Bakery" is really the only reason to come back and visit! The breads, donuts, cookies, and danish, are all worth the trip, as I've never been able to find a bakery that comes close to even being second to the Colchester Bakery.

Just on a whim, I looked for Colchester Bakery on line. I never expected to find what I did. I'm thrilled. I have been getting my son to drive from Westerly to Colchester any time I couldn't stand not having some Russian Pump. or real seeded Rye, & have him mail it to us. This is great!
The Bakery is one of the things we really miss since moving from Colchester. The South is great, but they don't know what good breads are. Thanx!!

This is the best "black bread" we have had! My grandfather, Ruby Cohen, raised us on this bread. Now that I live in Denver, CO I can get the bread more than the once a year we are home for Thanksgiving. Thank you for the great bread, keep up the great baking!

Have been eating toasted Russian Pumpernickel for years, mostly depending upon my sister who lives close by to do the pick up and delivery.

A neighbor down here was going to pass through Conn., and I told her she HAD to visit the Colchester Bakery to bring some Russian pumpernickel back down to Richmond. It was the bread I was raised on up there. (Do you have any idea how embarrassing it was to be the only kid in a WASP shoreline community to bring such sandwiches to school, instead of the Wonder lily-white sandwiches--and Twinkies!--of the other kids? And do you know how many light-years ahead of the rest of this country we all were because we had immigrant parents who knew what real food should be?) Every weekend that my mother's childhood friend, Otille Hille, came down from their old hometown to visit us after my parents moved to the Conn. shore, she brought us treats from your bakery. It wasn't a proper post-Communion breakfast without eggs and your toasted bread. Colchester Bakery bread rates among the few precious gems I ever want passers-through to bring back to a homesick Yankee who's been transplanted in the Confederate Capital. When my neighbor told me you had a web site, I couldn't believe my luck! Thank you for setting this up--it will let the rest of the world realize how lucky I was as a kid, and that I wasn't exaggerating about how good your bread is.

I was so excited to see your website and online catalog. I have missed your bread, especially the russian pumpernickle since moving away from Colchester nine years ago. I have just placed an order to share with friends, and hope to be able to order on a regular basis. Keep up the good work.
